Vice President Kamala Harris outlined her intentions to advance amnesty for 11 to 22 million undocumented immigrants in the United States during her address at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Thursday evening.
In her remarks, delivered on the final night of the DNC, Harris emphasized, “I know we can uphold our proud heritage as a nation of immigrants and reform our broken immigration system. We can create an earned pathway to citizenship and secure our border.”
This proposed “earned pathway to citizenship” is expected to enable millions of undocumented immigrants in the country to apply for green cards, ultimately leading to naturalized American citizenship through legislation that faces significant opposition from the majority of lawmakers in both the House and Senate.
Earlier this month, during a rally in Glendale, Arizona, Harris reiterated her support for amnesty.
Such a policy would quickly introduce millions of newly legalized foreign workers into the U.S. workforce, creating increased competition for jobs among working and middle-class Americans.
At the DNC on Wednesday evening, Representative Pete Aguilar (D-CA) highlighted Harris’s commitment to making amnesty for undocumented immigrants, along with the facilitation of foreign workers into American jobs, a central tenet of her platform.
“As president, she will fight for pathways to citizenship … we believe our union is more perfect when DREAMers become doctors, teachers, construction workers, and military service members,” Aguilar stated.
This comes as illegal border crossing are at an all time high (some estimates say as high as 20 million). Violent migrant crime is also way up. SEE: https://opsdesk.org/migrant-crime/
